     As heirs of Francis, William Henry Beatty, his wife Josephine, Nancy Agnes Beatty, her husband Gilbert Sanner, Mary Ann Beatty, her husband James M. McMillen, and Francis C. Beatty sold Francis Beatty's 111 acres farm in Jackson Township, Venango County, to William Frazier of Sugarcreek Township, Venango County for $500 to each of Francis' children. The deeds states that this was land willed to Francis by his father Robert Beatty. The deeds were signed on 7 March 1864 and 28 September 1864 and were recorded in Franklin on 22 October 1864.12

     Samuel Beatty was born circa 1835 in Jackson Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania.1,3 He was the son of Francis Beatty and Mary Donahey.2,1
     Samuel Beatty and his siblings were living with their grandmother Agnes Beatty in 1850 in Jackson Township, Venango County.4 Samuel Beatty was living with his aunt Elizabeth Beatty in Canal Township, Venango County, in 1860.5 He was described as "an idiot" and an entire cripple in census and Venango County Orphan's Court records.4
