     Adam Stroup was born before 1765 in Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Johann Peter Straub and Catherine Elisabeth (?)2,3 He married Eva (?)4 He died either in 1813 or 1814 in Ferguson Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania.5
     During the American Revolution, Adam Stroup and his brothers Peter and John served as privates in Captain Charles Myer's Company known as the Rangers on the Frontier.6 He enlisted in the Second Pennsylvania Battalion commanded by Col. Steart in 1780.7
     Adam Stroup and Eva Stroup lived in Penn Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, between 1783 and 1787 In 1787 Adam was taxed for 50 acres, 1 horse and 1 cow.8,9 He was living in Patton Township, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, by 1789. In that year Adam was assessed for one dwelling house valued at $10. and 200 acres valued at $960.10 He applied for a land warrant of 400 acres in Northumberland County on 31 January 1794. This warrant may have been for the property that he owned in Patton Township.11 In 1801, this area became part of Ferguson Township, Centre County. He was taxed for 200 acres in Ferguson Township in 1801. Between 1803 and 1807 he was taxed for 150 acres. In 1809 and 1810 he was again taxed for 200 acres. Between 1811 and 1813, Adam was taxed for 300 acres, 1 horse and 1 cow. In 1814, Adam's name and acreage had a line drawn through it and a notation that the land had been transferred to David Mitchell indicating that the family had sold the land after Adam's death between 1813 and 1814.12

     John Kerner was born circa 1750 in Berks County, Pennsylvania.1,3 He was the son of Johann Adam Körner and Anna Regina Bingeman.2 He married Magdalena (?)4 He died on 22 June 1819 in Ferguson Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania.1,5
     John Kerner served served with the colonial forces during the Revolutionary War. He enlisted at Reading, Berks County in 1775 as a rifleman in Colonel Thompson's Regiment in the company commanded by Captain George Nagle. He was discharged in July of 1776 on Long Island and returned to Reading. He re-enlisted in the company commanded by Captain Mouser and afterwards Captain Finney's company in the Sixth Regiment of the Pennsylvania line commanded by Colonel Harmen. According to his pension papers, he was wounded in the hand and lost two fingers at the battle of Litchfield's Point. He also saw action at the battle of Scotch Plains, the taking of the Hessians at Trenton (Dec 1776), Princeton (Jan 1777), and the battle of Brandywine (Sep 1777). John may have been in the Colonial forces until 1781.6
     John Kerner was living in Penn Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, in 1786.7 He sold land in Penn Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, in 1788.8 He was living in White Deer Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, in 1813 where he paid taxes on seven acres and a small house.9 White Deer Township, Northumberland County became part of the newly formed Union County in 1815. Although he was no longer assessed for property in White Deer Township, Union County after 1815, John Kerner was still living in Union County when he applied for a military pension in 1818.6 He moved to Ferguson Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania, by 1819 when his name appears on the Ferguson Township assessment list.10
     John Kerner applied for a military pension in 1818. According to his pension application he was living "in reduced circumstances, and stands in need of the assistance of his country for his support." The pension awarded him was at the rate of eight dollars per month.6 He died intestate (without a will) in Centre County. On 17 April 1820, Magdalena renounced her right as adminstratrix of John estate and her sons John and George were appointed co-administrators. The articles in John's estate were sold at a public sale on 28 April 1820.11

     Andrew Jackson Carner was born circa 1831 in Rockland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of John Carner and Susan Stroup.1 He died on 25 April 1864 at Andersonville Prison, Georgia, of Diarrhaea while a prisoner of war.1 He was buried in grave number 734 at Andersonville Prison.1
     Andrew Jackson Carner served in the U.S. Army during the Civil War. He enlisted at Emlenton, Venango County on 9 October 1861 for three years and was mustered into Company L., Fourth Pennsylvania Cavalry. He was commanded by Captain Duncan. Andrew was reported absent in the September and October 1863 Muster Rolls. In November and December, he was reported as missing in action since 12 October 1863 at Sulphur Springs, Virginia. On the July 1865 Muster Roll he was "discharged by reason of expiration of term of Service October 31, 1864." A memorandum states that he was admitted to the hospital at Andersonville Prison on 3 April 1864.1 He was described in the Company Descriptive Book as age 27, 5 feet, 9 inches tall; light complextion; black hair; and gray eyes.1 He purchased 62 acres of land in Rockland Township in 1861 from George S. Domer for $456.2 Andrew Jackson Carner's land was sold by his father, brothers, and sisters in 1865.3
