     George Carner served as a soldier in the U.S. Army during the War of 1812. He enlisted on 30 August 1813 and was discharged in 1818.4 He was described as five feet nine inches tall, dark complected, blue eyes and light hair in his military discharge papers dated 1818.4 Following their marriage, George Carner and Elisabeth Carner lived in Ferguson Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania.5,6 He was a small farmer all of his life.7,8,5 He moved his family circa 1833 to Rockland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania.8 He was taxed for 63 acres in Rockland Township in 1833. From from 1839 to 1843, he was taxed for 82 acres of land.8 He moved to Cranberry Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, in 1843.9,10 He moved in 1853 to Connequenessing Township, Butler County, where he owned 34 acres. George remained there the rest of his life.7

Jacob Carner
     Jacob Carner was born on 6 October 1822 in Ferguson Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania.2,3 He was the son of John Carner and Susan Stroup.1 He married Mary Carner, daughter of George Carner and Elisabeth Schoch, in 1851.2 He died on 23 December 1903 in Rockland Township at age 81.1 He was buried in Domer Chapel Cemetery, Rockland Township.1,3
     In 1853 Jacob Carner moved in Connequenessing Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, where his father-in-law George Carner lived.4 He and Mary Carner lived in Cranberry Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, until 1853.5 Jacob and Mary moved in 1866 to Rockland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania. They remained in Rockland Township the rest of his life. Their 100 acre farm was located on the Coal City Road near Smith's Corner.6
     Jacob Carner bought his father's farm in 1871. Jacob sold the farm to Martin & Company, oil operators, for twenty thousand dollars.7,8
     Jacob Carner and Mary Carner raised a family of 11 children. He and Mary Carner were members of the Pine Hill Church of God where Jacob served as a deacon.2

     Mary Carner was born on 5 March 1833 in Rockland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania.1 She was the daughter of George Carner and Elisabeth Schoch.1 She married Jacob Carner, son of John Carner and Susan Stroup, in 1851.2 She died on 29 August 1924 in Rockland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, at age 91.1 She was buried in Domer Chapel Cemetery, Rockland Township.1
     Mary Carner and Jacob Carner lived in Cranberry Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, until 1853.3 Mary and Jacob moved in 1866 to Rockland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania. They remained in Rockland Township the rest of his life. Their 100 acre farm was located on the Coal City Road near Smith's Corner.4
     Mary Carner and Jacob Carner raised a family of 11 children. She and Jacob Carner were members of the Pine Hill Church of God where Jacob served as a deacon.2
