     Daniel Stroup lived in Ferguson Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania, for several years following their marriage.4,5 He moved to Rockland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, in 1820.6,7,8 He purchased 82 acres in Rockland Township which he "cleared up for a home for him and his family, undergoing all the privations and hardships of a new county."3 He was a farmer. He also supervised the building of Slab and McCalmont iron furnaces in Venango County, Pennsylvania.3 He was taxed for 106 acres of land at the time of his death.9
     Daniel and Elizabeth provided a home for their aged mothers Eve Stroup and Lydia Rose. Daniel was survived by his wife, his mother, his mother-in-law, and several minor children. Lydia Rose went to live with her grandson Peter Stroup following the death of Daniel and Elizabeth. Daniel's mother Eve Stroup died very shortly after Daniel.10,11
