While it is not know for certain, Elias G. Engle was probably the same Elias Engle born to Henry and Catherine Engle of Berks and Montgomery Counties, Pennsylvania. This Elias was born on 22 October 1802 and baptised 30 January 1803 according to the Goshenhoppen [Catholic] Register.4 Elias G. Engle was living in Franconia Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, in 1820.5
Elias and Elizabeth Engle were living in Buffalo Township, Union County, Pennsylvania, in 1830. They probably moved there with Elizabeth's parents by 1823.6,7 Elias and Elizabeth moved from Union County to Richland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, in 1841.8 He purchased one hundred seventy-nine acres of farmland in Richland Township, Venango County.8 Elias and Elizabeth continued to live in Richland Township where Elias was a farmer.9,10,11,12

Benjamin Record was born circa 1778 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Philip Record and Nancy Moreland.2,3 He married Agnes McCandless, daughter of Alexander McCandless and Jane Wilson.4 He died before 13 July 1847 in Columbus, Bartholomew County, Indiana, when the last of his property in Crawford County, Pennsylvania which consisted of 39 acres was sold to John Stitzer.1,5
Benjamin Record bought part of the "Elk" plantation in Moon Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, from his father Philip Record on 10 October 1804.6 He purchased 500 acres in Wayne Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, on 4 October 1824 from Mary Willamina Wilber of Princeton, New Jersey. The tract of land was part of Lot 106 in the 6th District, Donation Land Claims--land set aside for Revolutionary War veterans. Apparantly the land was originally given to Miss Wilbur's father for his service as a Captain in the Revolution.7,1 He lived in Moon Township until circa 1825.8,9 He sold 100 acres in Wayne Township on 14 February 1833 to Richard Bell of Robinson Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania for $500.10 He sold 95 and 3/4 acres in Wayne Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, to his son Philip Record for $500 on 22 September 1834.11 He sold 114 acres in Wayne Township, Crawford County, to his son William Record for $500 on 4 November 1834. Benjamin sold William an additional 91 acres in Wayne Township for $500 on 13 January 1835. According to William's 1876 will, this land was north of the Brawley Road and east of the Finchtown Road.12,13 He sold 100 acres in Wayne Township, Crawford County, to his son James E. Record for $500 on 13 January 1835.14
