     Mary and Samuel Shoemaker lived in Windsor Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania, following their marriage. Samuel was a tanner by trade.7,8,9 Mary and Samuel were living in Buffalo Township, Union County, Pennsylvania, by 1823.10,11 Mary and Samuel moved from Pennsylvania to Marshall County, Indiana, probably around 1835 when the first white settlers began to arrive in Marshall County.12,13 She continued to live in Marshall County, Indiana, after Samuel's death in 1838.14,15
