Her note further states that it appears that there were more entries in the Bible at one time but it is said that it along with other belongings fell into a river while the Alexander Records family was migrating to Minnesota.

Philip Record was born circa 1751 in Somerset County, Maryland.1 He was the son of Benjamin Rickards and Elizabeth Lamee.2 He married Nancy Moreland, daughter of Alexander Moreland. He married Sarah (?) before October 1804 when Philip Records and his wife Sarah sold property to Philip's son Benjamin.3 He died in 1818 in Moon Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.4
An unknown person was taxed for 1 horse and 2 cows in Franklin Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, in 1785.5 Philip Record applied for a land warrant of 290 and one half acres in Robinson Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, on 30 August 1785. The survey was completed on 2 November 1785 and the patent was granted on 16 August 1787. The property was known as "Elk" and with the establishment of Allegheny County in 1788 would be located in Moon Township, Allegheny County where the old Pittsburgh International Airport terminal was located.6 He lived in Moon Township, Allegheny County, the rest of his life.7,8,9 He and Nancy Record sold part of his "Elk" plantation in Moon Township in 1796 to John Marshal.10 He sold part of the "Elk" plantation in Moon Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, to his son Benjamin Record on 10 October 1804.11
Philip Record left a will on 2 November 1817 in Allegheny County. According to the will, his beloved wife Sarah was to receive "my house and garden, household and kitchen furniture, two beds and bedding, my books, two cows, her mare and saddle, at her disposal only, she must not rent the house or any part." Sarah also was to receive pasture fur her cattle on the place, one third of the meadows, and 30 dollars in money yearly as long as she lived on the place. If she left, she was to receive $200 as her full dowry. Philip also willed that Sarah receive one half of his sheep and 1/4 of a bushel of flexsee sown yearly. Philip's son Benjamin was to receive his "body clothes" and the remainder of his personal property was to be divided equally between his three children Elizabeth Hooper, Margaret McCandless, Benjamin Record and his beloved wife Sarah. Philip's grandson Philip Record was to receive the Elk plantation and to pay $400 to Elizabeth and Margaret after Philip comes of age. Philip's son Benjamin and Thomas Brown, Esq. were named executors. The will was witnessed by William Backhouse and Michael Law.12
