Jacob and Susannah Shipman were living in Butler County, Ohio, by 1820. They likely followed other members of the Meddock family from Warren County to westernOhio. In the 1820 census, Jacob's household is recorded next to David Marsh, his brother-in-law, and his brother-in-law Abraham Meddock is living close by. By 1826, Jacob and Susannah had moved to Crosby Township, Hamilton County which is adjacent to Butler County and where Susannah's father Moses Meddock was living. Jacob died in Crosby Township a short time later.5,6,3

There are two references to the wife of Moses Meddock. In the Venango County deed dated 1813, Moses' wife was named as Anne. David Marsh1

d. 14 October 1855
David Marsh married Mary Meddock, daughter of Moses Meddock.1 He died on 14 October 1855 in Ohio County, Indiana.2
David Marsh and Mary Meddock were living in Morgan Township, Butler County, Ohio, as early as 1820. David is listed on the tax lists for Crosby Township, Hamilton County, Ohio in 1829, but is ennumerated in the 1830 census in Reily Township, Butler County and in the 1840 census is again found in Morgan Township. It does not appear that David owned any property while living in Ohio so he was probably a tenant farmer. Throughout this time, he and Mary stayed in close proximity to members of the Marsh and Meddock families.3,4,5,6
David Marsh and Mary Meddock moved from Ohio to Ohio County, Indiana, in 1850. Several of their children and Mary's sister Susannah where living in the same area of Indiana as early as 1840.5,7
David Marsh died intestate (without a will) in 1855 in Ohio County, Indiana. His son Abijah was named administrator of his estate which consisted personal estate and 1 acre of land in Ohio County. Abijah was petitioned in 1856 to sell the property on behalf of David's heirs, which included his widow Mary, eight children: Abijah, Washington, Harrison, David, Alexander, Elizabeth, Susan, and Abigail; and five grandchildren: Mary Busby, John Busby, Elizabeth Busby, and Isabelle Allen. Another petition dated 1857 also lists David Busby.8
