Ellen Adeline Duprey was born on 19 January 1834 in Youngsville, Warren County, Pennsylvania.1,4 She was the daughter of (?) Duprey and Patience August.3 She married Emanuel Wars Thomas, son of Samuel Thomas and Elizabeth Rote, on 8 January 1852.3 She died on 22 July 1909 in Hydetown, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, at age 75.1 She was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Titusville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.1,3
According to Howard Strawbridge, Ellen was a daughter of Robert Duprey and his wife Elizabeth Miller. However, according to Ellen's death certificate, her father's names was listed as Duprey (no first name recorded) and her mother was listed as Patience August. It seems that Mr. Strawbridge assumed that Ellen was the same person as Robert and Elizabeth Duprey's daughter Adeline. However Adeline was married to William Wickham and died in Kaine, Pennsylvania in 1915. Ellen is most likely the E. August listed in the household of her step-father Abiel Eddy and her mother Patience in Plum Township, Venango County in the 1850 census. in 1835.1,4,5,6 Ellen Adeline Duprey and Emanuel Wars Thomas were living in Oakland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, in 1860 on the Thomas farm with Emanuel's mother Elizabeth.7 Ellen and Emanuel were living in Old Armagh Township, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, in 1870.8 Ellen and Emanuel were living in Plum Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, in 1880.9 She was living in Hydetown, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, in 1900 with her sons Fearon and Miller.10
