     George Benninghoff was born on 3 April 1825 in Clearfield County.2,3 He was the son of John Benninghoff and Elizabeth Heise.1 He married Julia Ann Baney, daughter of John Baney and Susannah Benninghoff, in 1848.4 He married Jeanette Margarch on 21 January 1891 in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.5,6 He died on 5 February 1909 in West Mead Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, at age 83. According to a notice in the Conneautville Courier, George was struck by a fast passenger train on the Erie road near his home and instantly killed. He was walking on the track and failed to hear the train until it was too late. His body was thrown some distance from the track and escaped mutilation but his right side was crushed, his head was cut and both legs and arms broken. The body was picked up and carried to Meadville on the train.2,1,7 He and Julia Ann Baney were buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Meadville, Crawford County.8
     George Benninghoff was listed as the head of a family on the 1850 Census of Cherrytree Township, Venango County. The household consisted of George Benninghoff, 25, PA, farmer, $400 real estate; Julia 25, PA; Almena H., 1, PA.9 He was listed as the head of a family on the 1860 Census of Cherrytree Township, Venango County. The household consisted of George Benninghoff 35, farmer, 1000/350, Julia 35, Almirta H. 12, Louis N., 10, Livingstone 8, George E. 6, John A. Bell 32.10 He was listed as the head of a family on the 1900 Census of West Mead Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania. The household consisted of George and his wife Jennie.11 George's home located just east of Meadville caught fire on the roof and was completely destroyed on 31 October 1908. George's son Livingston died while trying to save the family home. According to the account in the Conneautville Courier, no insurance was carried on the property, but the contents were nearly all removed.12

     Livingstone Benninghoff was born on 9 April 1852 in Cherrytree Township, Venango County.4,2 He was the son of George Benninghoff and Julia Ann Baney.1,2,3 He married Emma Cole, daughter of George Cole and Priscilla Dunn, on 19 July 1877 in Crawford County.5 He died on 31 October 1908 near Meadville, Crawford County, at age 56. Livingston died of an apparent heart attack that resulted from the excitement caused by a fire which destroyed the home of his father George outside of Meadville. According to a notice in the Conneautville Courier, when the fire was discovered, Livingston ran to a small run to get watter. As he leaned over to fill a pail he fell over dead.1,2,6 He was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Meadville, Crawford County.1
