Philip Heck who died in Maiden Creek Township, Berks County in 1808 is likely a son or possibly a grandson of Yost of Bern Township due to the fact that he appears on the Bern Township tax lists in 1767 as a single freeman. He continues to be listed with other members of the Yost's family in Bern Township until around 1786 when he moved to Maiden Creek Township.

John Heck, who is likely a son of Yost, first appears on the Bern Township tax lists in 1767. He seems to have departed Bern Township and moved to Allen Township, Cumberland County around 1785. Evidence that John Heck of Bern Township and John Heck of Allen Township are likely the same person can be drawn from Philip Heck of Westmoreland County who lived in Bern Township until about 1789 and between 1792 and 1795 was living in Allen Township where John had settled. Philip moved to Westmoreland County by 1798.
