     Samuel Frankenberger came to Venango County in 1842, probably with his future father-in-law. He was a carpenter, joiner and cabinet maker by trade. He built a shop in Dempseytown, Oakland Township and worked at his trade for about nine years. He then bought a farm one mile west of the village in 1851.1
