Jacob and Margaretha were reportedly killed and scalped by Indians along with others in the surrounding area of Tulpehocken. This event is recounted in the Rupp's 1844 History of Berks and Lebanon Counties. In that account, Rupp references a letter, dated 8 April 1758, that was published in Christoph Sauer's German-language newspaper at Germantown, Pennsylvania in April 1758.4 Jacob Loewengut left a will dated 2 December 1749 in Berks County. According to the will, which was entered into probate on 29 April 1758, Jacob left his estate to his only son Jacob on condition that he provide for Jacob's wife Margred, during her life and pay to his daughter Anna Margreda Fehler L10 and to his daughter Anna Barbara L5.3
