     Adam Steffee was born on 17 December 1833 in Rockland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Adam Steffee and Sarah Stroup.1 He married Catherine Daugherty, daughter of Edward Daugherty, in June 1853.1 He died on 23 April 1921 in Conneaut Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, at age 87.2,3 He was buried in Linesville Cemetery, Pine Township, Crawford County.3
     Prior to 1873 Adam Steffee was living in Rockland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania.4,5 He moved to Conneaut Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, in 1873.6 He purchased a 120 acre farm where he built a "fine residence" in 1881. Adam kept a high grade of cattle and sheep on the farm.6 He was a farmer and a Director of and one of the principal stockholders of the Linesville Savings Bank in Conneaut Township.6,7 Adam was a Republican in politics and a strong advocate of temperance.6 He and Catherine Steffee were members of the Baptist Church.6
