     John Milton Thomas was born on 18 December 1846 in Oakland Township, Venango County.2,3 He was the son of Samuel Thomas and Elizabeth Rote. He married Lydia Malinda Baum, daughter of Samuel Edward Baum and Leah Mae Long, on 28 October 1869.2 He died on 13 July 1924 in 18 Egbert St., Rocky Grove, Sugarcreek Township, Venango County, at age 77.1 He and Lydia Malinda Baum were buried in Franklin Cemetery, Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County.4
     John Milton Thomas also went by the name of Milton Thomas. He enlisted on 1 July 1863 in E Co., Pennsylvania 58th Infantry Regiment as a Musician.5 He mustered out on 15 August 1863.5
