Samuel continues to appear on the Miles Township assessment lists for several years. There are several other Longs listed on the Miles Township lists along with Samuel although it has not been determined what, if any, relationship exists among them. However, on the 1821 list, Samuel is taxed for 100 acres and a notation for a William Long shows that 50 acres formerly assessed to William has been transferred to Samuel. This transfer of land does suggest a possible relationship between William and Samuel.6
Samuel Long was living in Logan Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania, in 1830 where he was taxed for 174 acres of land. Logan Township would later become part of Clinton County.7
Samuel Long and his family moved in 1837 to Venango County, Pennsylvania. He purchased 200 acres in Oakland Township, Venango County, in 1837 from Mr. T. Cadwalader for $450.8 He was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census of Plum Township, Venango County. The household consisted of 1 male under 5, 1 male 5-10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 40-50, 2 females 10-15, 2 females 15-20, 1 female 40-50.9
Samuel Long and Eva Long moved circa 1857 to Copley Township, Summit County, Ohio. They lived there the rest of their lives.10
