In 1904, Edward William
Sanford started to work as a carpenter with contractors, Woods, Trent & Lewis. He became a general foreman in a short time and remained with them until the completion of the Franklin & Clearfield Railroad. He remained a foreman or superintendant until 1914 when railroad construction practically ceased. In 1917-1918, he began work as superintendant for the Franklin Quality Regining Company. He planned and built a refinery at Franklin and in 1919-1920, he built the plant for Rajah Oil & Refining Company at Youngstown, Ohio.
2 In 1922, Edward William Sanford went to Whittier, California and worked first as a general contractor and later began manufacturing store fixtures.
