Margriet and Samuel were living in Montague Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, on 23 January 1784 when they sold an island in the Delaware River to Isaac Van Aken. The small island was opposite the dwelling house of jacob van Elters. Samuel and Margaret apparently lived on the island as the deed describes improvements as where "my house, barn, and orched stand."4
