James Carner1
b. circa 1838, d. circa 1864
James
Carner served as a Private in Company C, 148th Pennsylvania Infantry during the Civil War. He was taken prisoner on 27 October 1864 at the Battle of Petersburg, Virginia.2 James presumably died during his service in the Civil War and probably while he was a prisoner of war. His mother filed for and received a pension in 1886 based on his service which indicates he died without heirs of his own.
