     Johann Valentine Benninghoff was born on 5 September 1706 in Gauersheim, Rheinland-Pfalz.1 He was the son of Johann George Benighoff and Anna Catharina Becker.2 He married Maria Appolonia Walther on 3 July 1726 in Gauersheim, Rheinland-Pfalz.1 He married Anna Maria Engelmann on 25 October 1735 in Rheinland-Pfalz.1 He married Barbara Heineman on 17 July 1770 in Zion Church, Lower Macungie Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.3 He died in 1788 in Macungie Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.4
     Johann Valentine Benninghoff immigrated on 16 September 1751 to Pennsylvania.5 He apparently settled in the Upper Salforth area of Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. This area became part of Montgomery County in 1784. Valentine was a Lutheran school teacher from 1754 on and he and his family attended the Old Goshenhoppen Lutheran Church in Upper Salforth Township, that is now part of Montgomery County.6 He took out a land warrant of 32 acres in Lowhill Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, on 22 April 1752. It appears that Valentine did not settle on this land at that time as his name does not appear on the tax lists. It is possible that the land in Lowhill Township is the same land the family later settled on in Weisenberg Township as Lowhill and Weisenberg are adjacent to one another.7 He moved to Weisenberg Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, by 1770 when his wife was buried there.8 His estate was entered into probate on 19 March 1788 in Northampton County. The estate was valued at 40 pounds, 18 shillings, and 10 pence.9
