     Alexander Long was born on 30 October 1756 in Chester County, Pennsylvania.1,2 He married Sarah Graham on 15 December 1774 in St.James Episcopal Church, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.3 He died on 22 November 1841 in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, at age 85.1
     Alexander Long served in the Pennsylvania militia during the Revoluationary War and was receiving a pension for his service in 1835 of $30.22 annually.4 He appeared on the census of 1800 in Mifflin Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.5 He moved from Allegheny County, Pennsylvania to Beaver County, the area that is south of what is now New Castle in Shenango Township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, in 1806.6,7,8,9 He owned a 200 acres farm in this area which was divided after his death between his two sons Joseph and Arthur.6
