     Robert Lee Harriger served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 through 1946. He served in the European Theatre and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal.² He was employed by the Pennsylvania Highway Department, Sinclair Oil, Lug and Tug Hardware, and Joy Manufacturing, before retiring in 1987.      Doris Mabel Harriger and Robert Lee Harriger lived in Seneca, Cranberry Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania.¹ She was a gifted seamstress and between 1967 and 1987 she was the school secretary at Steffee Elementary School in Seneca.²

     Clifford Henry Harriger was born on 28 June 1926 in Oil City, Venango County, Pennsylvania.^1,2 He was the son of Floyd Delloyd Harriger and Elma Irene Baum.¹ He married Erla Smith on 7 September 1948.¹ He married Esther Ann Williams on 16 February 1963.² He died on 2 January 2013 in Greenville, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, at age 86.² He was buried in Shenango Valley Cemetery, Greenville, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.²

     His army service took him to Fort McClellan, Ala., in October 1944, then to the Pacific War Zone from June to November 1945; 15 months in Japan occupation with the 41st Infantry, 10th Corp, a communication company, and the 24th Infantry Division as a newspaper reporter, printer and team member, starting schools for soldiers who earned their GED; building radio stations for GIs, both on Honshu and the Southern island of Kyushu, while obtaining sergeant rank in Japan. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal, Phillipine Liberation Medal, Victory Medal of Japan, World War II Army Occupation Medal, and the Expert Rifleman Pin. In 1946, he enlisted in the Army Reserves for three years and then again in 1949. He was recalled to active service in February 1949 and assigned to Fort Knox, Ky., and the Armored School. He was discharged in June 1950 and returned to Greenville.²
     On returning home, Cliff worked for Erie Railroad, transferring from Oil City to Greenville where he completed 43 years with the Erie, Erie Lackawanna, and Conrail Railroad, retiring in 1985 as a block tower operator.²
