Harman Randall1

b. between 1800 and 1810
Harman Randall was born between 1800 and 1810.1
Harman Randall was living in Lower Augusta Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, in 1830 near William Randall. Harman is likely a son of William. No further record of Harman has been found.1,2
Analysis of the census ennumerations for William Randall's household bertween 1810 and 1840 suggest that he and Esther were the parents of as many as 10 children, 5 sons and 5 daughters. The census records would not capture any children born to William and Esther who died under the age of 10 between census years. Further, it can not be ruled out that some of those ennumerationed in William's household were not his children, but other family members, such as grandchildren, or even unrelated children taken in as orphans or as laborers in the household.

Of the children listed below, Esther, William, Eliza, Catherine, and Martin are confirmed children of William and Esther. John and Mary Ann are likely children based on circumstantial evidence.

Accounting for William, his wife Esther, and the 7 confirmed and likely children, 3 people ennumerated in William's household between 1810 and 1840 remain unidentified:

     male born between 1810-1815
     male born between 1815-1820
     female born between 1825-1830

Further, comparing the 1820 and 1830 census ennumerations, it appears that that one of the unidentified males included in the household in 1830 (born betweeen 1810-1815 or born between 1815-1820) was not ennumerated in the household in 1820 suggesting that one of these males is not a child of William and Esther.3,2,4,5

Paul Hopper1

b. 14 September 1748
ChartsAncestry of David Kipp Melat
Paul Hopper was born on 14 September 1748 in or near Clarkstown, Rockland County, New York. He was baptized on 9 October 1748 at the Tappan Dutch Reformed Church.2,3 He married Esther/Hester Dobbs say 1770.4
Paul and Esther/Hester Hopper moved from New York to Augusta Townshiip, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, by 1790 when Paul appears for the first time on the Augusta Township tax list and is enumerated in 1790 Census for Augusta Township. Paul did not appear on the 1788 tax list for Augusta Township.5,6,7 He continues to appear on the tax lists for Augusta Townshiip until 1819. He is taxed for 300 acres in 1791 and 1793, 195 acres in 1794, again for 300 acres and "a new place" in 1795 suggesting that he build a new house, which was referred to as a cabin in 1796. He was not taxed for any real estate between 1796 and 1804. In 1806 and 1807 he is taxed for 50 acres. In 1809, he is taxed 115 acres. He name and assessment was crossed out in 1810. He name appears of the tax list for 1812 and 1813, assessed for 115 acres. In 1815 and 1816 he is assessed with 157 acres. He last appears on the Augusta Township Tax List in 1819, taxed with 124 acres.8 He was millwright and a farmer.8
Paul and Esther/Hester appear to have moved from Northumberland County to Lewistown, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, by 1810. Paul and likely his wife Esther were still living in Lewistown in 1820.9,10
