     Elijah Beatty was born in August 1827 in Venango County, Pennsylvania.1,2 He was the son of Samuel Beatty and Leah McFadden.1 He married Elizabeth Deets, daughter of John Deets and Catherine Herring, on 25 September 1851.3 He died on 10 July 1901 in Oakland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, at age 73.4,5,6 He was buried in Bethel Cemetery, Oakland Township.7
     Elijah Beatty and Elizabeth Deets were living in Redbank Township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, in 1870 where Elijah was a preacher.8 He and Elizabeth Deets returned to Oakland Township, Venango County, by 1880 where Elijah was a farmer.9,2
