     Beaty Kelly was born on 13 January 1829 in Venango County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of John Kelly and Mary Ann Beatty.1 He married Mary Ann Turner, daughter of Hugh Turner, on 2 March 1854 in Tipton, Cedar County, Iowa.2,3 He died on 6 February 1902 in Buchanan Township, Page County, Iowa, at age 73.1 He was buried in Clarinda Cemetery, Clarinda, Page County, Iowa.1
     According to his obituary, Beaty was born in Venango County. His parents died when he was quiet young and he was cared for by his grandmother, undoubtedly Agnes Beatty.1 Beaty Kelly moved from Pennsylvania to Iowa in 1851. Beaty and Mary Ann settled in Buchanan Township, Page County in Fall, 1864 where they owned a farm that totaled 120 acres.3

     Peter J. Dempsey served as a Private in Co. I, 142 Pennsylvania Infantry during the Civil War. He enlisted on 16 August 1862 in Oil City and was discharged at Washington, D.C. at the end of the war on 29 May 1865. He was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg on 1 July 1863 with a gunshot wound to the right side of his chest and his right knee. He also lost teeth.11
