Beatty sold Francis Beatty's 111 acres farm in Jackson Township, Venango County, to William Frazier of Sugarcreek Township, Venango County for $500 to each of Francis' children.6 Francis' name was written as Francis C. Beatty in the deed selling his share of his father's estate. His name was recorded as Frank C. Beaty in his son Michael's marriage license application.7,8 Francis C. Beatty was taxed for his occupation in Jackson Township, Venango County, in 1866.9 He was living in President Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, in 1870.3 He was living in Canal Township, Venango County, in 1880.10

     William Henry Beatty was born on 21 January 1841 in Jackson Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania.1,2 He was the son of Francis Beatty and Mary Donahey.1,2,3 He married Josephine Carson, daughter of George Washington Carson and Rhoda Mitchell, on 28 November 1863 in Sunville, Plum Township, Venango County.4 He married Jane Kissinger on 17 March 1880 in Clarion, Clarion County, Pennsylvania.4 He died on 19 May 1917 in Hickory Township, Forest County, Pennsylvania, at age 76.1,2 He was buried in Butler Cemetery, Brookville, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.2
     William Henry Beatty and his siblings were living with their grandmother Agnes Beatty in 1850 in Jackson Township, Venango County.5 As heirs of Francis Beatty, William Henry Beatty, his wife Josephine, Nancy Agnes Beatty, her husband Gilbert Sanner, Mary Ann Beatty, her husband James M. McMillen, and Francis C. Beatty sold Francis Beatty's 111 acres farm in Jackson Township, Venango County, to William Frazier of Sugarcreek Township, Venango County for $500 to each of Francis' children.6 He began military service on 10 March 1864 in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, in the Civil War, serving with Company C, Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery and Company D, 188th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry.4 He ended military service on 9 November 1865 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.4 He was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census of Corsica Borough, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. The household consisted of Henry; his wife Josephine; and children William, James, and Charles. Henry was listed as a laborer with real estate valued at $300 and personal estate valued at $600.7 He was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census of Clarion Borough, Clarion County, Pennsylvania. The household consisted of W. Henry Beatty; and children William, James, Francis, Carrie, Barton.8
