     Louisa Virginia Thomas was living in Oakland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, in 1870 in the household of her uncle Frances Marion Thomas.8 Louisa and Howard moved from Pennsylvania to Washington shortly after their marriage. They lived in Walla Walla for the rest of their lives except for a few years around 1890 when they lived in Milton, Oregon.9,10,11

Research Note:

According to the 1904 Venango County marriage license, Dora Iona Fetterman was the daughter of John H. and Mary Fetterman. According to Dora's great niece, Judy Broussard, Dora went to live her her aunt and uncle John and Mary Fetterman when she was 16 and took the Fetterman name. In her marriage license, Dora stated that her name was Dora Fetterman and that she was the daughter of John H. and Mary Fetterman. Dora was listed as a surviving daughter in Mary's obituary in 1921 and was not listed as a surviving child of Louise Thomas Cauvel in Louise's 1941 obituary.2,4,6,7

     John Richey Thomas lived in Diamond, Plum Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania.6,2,7 John earned his first money in the oil fields at the age of eight when he drove an old horse attached to a power at a drilling well located in the now business section of Oil City, then called the mouth of Oil Creek. From Bradford to Bullion and the southwest he followed the development as an oil righ builder until about 1900 when he left the field for good to follow the less strenuous life of farming.8,2
