     Samuel Stroup was born between 1800 and 1810 in Ferguson Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania.2 He was the son of Adam Stroup and Eva (?)1 He was unmarried.3 He died circa November 1837 in Rockland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania.1
     Samuel Stroup was probably the same Samuel Stroup who in 1824 became the first school teacher in Richland Township, Venango County.4 He was a shoemaker in Rockland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania.5 He was taxed for 53 acres in Rockland Township between 1831 and 1837.5
