Eli Carner
     Eli Carner was born in December 1834 in Rockland Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania.2 He was the son of John Carner and Susan Stroup.1 He married Sarah Ann Latchaw, daughter of Jacob Latchaw and Mary Stauffer, on 15 April 1869 in Barkeyville, Irwin Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania. They were married Rev. J. M. Domer.3,4 He died on 23 March 1901 in Irwin Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, at age 66.1 He was buried in Barkeyville Cemetery, Barkeyville, Irwin Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania.1
     Eli Carner was living in Rockland Township in 1850 with his father and his brother John's family.5 He was living in Rockland Township in 1860 with his sister Eve and her family.6
     Eli served in the U.S. Army during the Civil War. He was mustered into Company L, Fourth Cavalry, the same company as his brother Andrew. He was a private and served as a hopital stewart.7,8
     Eli and Sarah purchased 20 acres in Irwin Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania, in 1885 from his in-laws Jacob and Mary Latchaw for $1000.9 His heirs sold the 20-acre farm in Irwin Township to his son Oren in 1910.10
